The President Hotel: An affordable and no-frills hotel in Lingayen, Pangasinan

If you're looking for a no-frills accommodation that is both comfy and affordable when visiting Lingayen, then you should check out THE PRESIDENT HOTEL. It's close to several tourist destinations (walking distance), and is just an 8-minute walk to the beach.

My friend and I arrived in Lingayen around 12:15 AM. From the Victory Liner terminal, we then hailed a tricycle to the hotel (travel was less than 5-min). We were actually glad that there was a guard who stood by the gate, and a male receptionist that welcomed us that early morning. We were told that the rooms at the main building was fully-booked, so we were given a spacious unit at the Annex building. It was just a 1-2 minute walk from the main hotel.

PROS & CONS OF STAYING IN THE PRESIDENT HOTEL, ANNEX

The President Hotel is situated by Maramba Boulevard. It's also built on the birthplace of former President Fidel V. Ramos (the 12th President of the Republic of the Philippines) --- making it all the more a Lingayen treasure.

1) SPACIOUS ROOM: The living space that was given to us was good for 2 pax. We were provided with a Matrimonial bed, a dresser (with hangers), bench and mirror that were all made out of wood. Power outlets were also plenty inside the room. A TV was also present, but we didn't use it as much since the cable reception was unstable/shady.

*The room had airconditioning. But it could probably use some upkeep or cleaning just so the unit could blast colder air. And the door knob of ROOM 6 could use some replacing. I always had a hard time opening it.

*Complimentary towels and toiletries were also provided to us. Plus, the towels smelled gooooood! :) I actually kept all the toiletries for our OPLAN PALIGO Project.

2) PRIVATE BATHROOM: Our room had its own toilet and bath, so this was a plus (not really a fan of common bathrooms). There was a water heater, but the cable was cut for some reason. So there was no way for us to plug and use it. Although I didn't find the need to bathe in hot water since the weather was hot and humid already. It was actually refreshing to shower in cold water, even at night.

*The downside with our bathroom was that the drainage kept getting clogged. We weren't sure if our floor was flooded easily after using the shower or after using the sink. It could definitely use some immediate fixing. Also, the rusty and broken door knob could use a replacement.

3) 24/7 ROOM SERVICE: Yes! You read that right. So you can always phone them at anytime of the day (there's a telephone/intercom in every guest room). My friend and I didn't get to eat a decent meal throughout our 6-hour travel, so we were crazy hungry. So when our 2 other friends suggested ordering-in food to our room, we immediately dialled-in our food requests. And since they commended the taste of the dish that they ordered, and the promptness of the service, we knew that it was worth a shot. Plus, it was already 1 AM, so we had nowhere else to go and buy food from.

For 2 pax, we were only billed P175. We were served 2 bowls of plain rice, and a platter of Chicken Adobo with Potatoes. Our affordable meal was sumptuous!

*I loved the fact that there was a water dispenser down the hallway, where we could always get cold water for drinking.

THE VERDICT

All in all, I had a great stay in The President Hotel. I was quite pleased with the staff too, as they were always all smiles. Plus, they never failed to accommodate our every need and request, especially when we'd need a tricycle or when we'd order-in food. They were always prompt, friendly and kind.
