Microtel South Forbes: A personalized hotel stay like no other

Our 4-hour road trip to Batangas definitely put a strain on us, to the point that we wanted to stay an extra night in the resort just so we could rest. But of course, we couldn't. Though it was refreshing to know that we were extending our weekend getaway in one of the nice hotels down south. And so three toll ways and three hours later, we arrived at Microtel South Forbes.

I stayed in the same hotel two years ago, but only came back to sleep, as I was dead tired from a wedding engagement in Tagaytay. Fortunately, this time, I had more time to fully experience the South Forbes accommodation.

My second time at Microtel South Forbes definitely felt more relaxed and more personalized. I loved the fact that the staff -- from the management, front desk officers down to the guards and drivers (special mention to Ms. Marinelle, Ms. Mae, Sir Jerome and Kuya Noel) -- were so accommodating. Sure, it's their job to always be courteous and pleasant. But their service and attitude towards us and to all of their guests definitely showed genuine assistance.

Mr. Jerome, Microtel's very alert and cheerful Front Desk Officer! :)

What I also love about Microtel (check out their other hotels: General Santos, UP Technohub, Acropolis) is that all of their properties comply to a specific standard. I particularly love their chiropractor-approved beds, as it never leaves any strain on my back.

We also enjoyed the fruit basket that was left for us on our desk, as well as the BATHTUB! I was super excited to use it (not all rooms have it, but can be requested ahead of time). That's why I made sure not to end the day without having a warm and bubbly soak in our "indoor pool".

And speaking of pools, the South Forbes hotel doesn't have their own swimming pool. But plans to build one is already being processed. For the meantime, the hotel has tied up with a neighboring subdvision -- Miami South Forbes (a 1-minute drive from the hotel) -- for a temporary pool access, which Microtel guests can use for a minimal fee of P100 per head.

FOOD OPTIONS NEAR MIAMI, SOUTH FORBES

My friend and I got hungry after doing a few laps by the pool. Fortunately, we found several eateries just beside Miami's gate. We ordered a beef shawarma each at Ziggurat, and had Affogato, Lava Cake and Brewed Coffee at the newly opened Café Cum Laude (they have free Wi-Fi!).

MICROTEL SOUTH FORBES' CLIENT BASE

We were particularly curious as to why there were so many Japanese guests staying in the South Forbes hotel, and this is what we found out...

The reason why the hotel caters to a Japanese clientele is because Microtel is just 5 minutes away from the Laguna Technopark, which accommodates mostly Japanese companies. The Microtel lodging is well preferred by this specific market because not only does the hotel offer special rates for long-staying guests, the South Forbes property also provides free shuttle services going to and fro the company's location/s (one of many other complimentary services).

OUR UMENOYA EXPERIENCE

My friend and I didn’t end our first night in Microtel without getting some late night dinner at Umenoya. She ordered a Bento Box while I got myself a platter of California Maki. Umenoya probably had the biggest maki rolls, so the price was certainly worth it for me.

We also enjoyed our complimentary buffet breakfast at Umenoya, which was hearty and filling (a mix of Filipino and Continental). Even the coffee and juice were free flowing, which I enjoyed immensely. Breakfast, by the way, is from 6 to 8 am. The restaurant also closes at certain times in the day, but is open from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm (last order at 9:30 PM). They also have the Tempura Ice Cream, which is a bestseller. So you should definitely try that.

FREE SHUTTLE BABY!

Free shuttle is provided to and fro the hotel (make an advance booking at the front desk), especially for nearby areas such as Nuvali, Solenad, Paseo, SNR, Industrial Park, Miami South Forbes, and other subdivisions in Ayala Westgrove and Westborough. Pick-ups and drop-offs were very efficient, as we got to utilize the service throughout our stay.

PWD-FRIENDLY ROOMS

The South Forbes hotel also offer rooms that are PWD-friendly. All 3 access rooms, which are located on the ground floor, are also furnished with a queen size bed, and a spacious toilet and bath.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE HOTEL

Microtel recently added laptop tables by the lobby. They've also revamped the lounge area at the lower ground with a chic round table and four tall chairs, which we used as a hangout place while drinking our free hotel coffee (you can mix your own cup anytime!). The upper floor (4th floor) also has its own lounge area, which offers a nice view of the city.

Microtel South Forbes can also host small events and gatherings using their Function Hall on the 2nd floor. A full room has a capacity of 80-100 pax, but can also be separated into two rooms (class room types can accommodate more).

The hotel also has two gardens at the back with small benches and exercise equipment. One garden even has a mini soccer field, while the other has a volleyball net. Bikes are also available and can be rented at P150 per hour.

Microtel South Forbes also has a display of golf merchandise (polo shirts, shoes, belts), which you can find beside the front desk.

RECOMMENDED ACTIVITIES TO DO AND SITES TO SEE NEAR THE HOTEL

There are several activities that you can do near Microtel. You can send your prayers at St. Benedict Parish, play a round of golf at the South Forbes Golf Course, swim at Miami's pools, or dine/shop at Soledad or Paseo.

The hotel also has a tie-up with CAMP N in Nuvali, which is highly recommended for team buildings. Adventure seekers on the other hand, can go at the nearby Republ1c Park for some wakeboarding.

GET A MASSAGE

My friend was able to request for a massage at the hotel, which left her completely relaxed. Make sure to request for Dina (the masseuse), should you need the same service, as she did a splendid job.

HOW TO REACH MICROTEL SOUTH FORBES

Microtel South Forbes is in the heart of the south (near Manila, Laguna, Tagaytay, Batangas), so it's very accessible via private vehicle or public transport. You can also find the hotel on Waze or Google Maps.

Commuters can also be picked up by the hotel shuttle, as long as it's in the Nuvali area. Just book your pick-up in advance (free of charge). You can also ride a trike in Caltex Paseo going to Microtel (ranging from P30-40), should the shuttle be unavailable.
