3 Health tips on how to stay fit while traveling
It’s good to be in a healthier state,
especially when traveling from one destination to another. That’s why it’s best
to heed some of the most basic yet important health tips. These 3 pointers will help give you the
best defense while you’re on the move.
The importance of getting vaccinated
Taking your immunization shots prior to a
trip would have to be one of the most effective ways in keeping you resistant
from all kinds of illnesses. There are plenty of diseases that any traveler can
acquire, especially if your immune system is weak. So if you lack some
vaccination shots, find the time to consult your physician about it. Moreover,
having and bringing your medical insurance and vaccination records when you travel will also be beneficial on your end. This can help cover all your
medical expenses, should an unlikely event happen during your trip.
Create you own Travel Medical Kit
One of the best health tips when packing for a trip is by remembering to bring copies of your medical records. Also, bring a good enough supply of
medicine. Your medicine should suffice for the whole duration of your vacation. Moreover,
prepare your own travel medical kit. Try to pack some of the most common remedies
like ibuprofen (painkiller),
antihistamines, antibiotic, antacids and alcohol (should be sealed tightly and contained in a 3-ounce size bottle)
and bandages. You’ll never know when you’ll run out of these remedies and when
the nearest drugstore will be in sight.
Study the coverage of your health insurance
It would always be best to know the scope of
your health insurance,
in the event that you get really sick during a trip. You may find yourself in a
foreign country with different medical procedures. That’s why it’s best to get
a heads up on how to tackle such situations.
You can also ensure a smooth travel by asking
your medical insurance provider if you will be covered in any region of the
world. If there are limitations, ask where you can be recommended in case of an
emergency. This at least gives you more time to prepare before journeying off.

I have never thought that health insurance is a must when traveling. Now I am reminded that airline companies add the option of insurance before payment.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started to have my own family, I suddenly became my mom esp. during travels. I always need to be ready so I bring a lot of medicines, our emergency kits, and you're correct, make sure we're vaccinated and prepared in terms of our health insurance. Mas mabuti ng prepared!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this info Mai :) Although I don't see myself traveling in the next couple of months, your tips are easy to remember and very helpful. MY hubby is always packing medical supplies everywhere he goes - even to work! So I don't have a problem in that department :D
ReplyDeleteHaving a medical travel kit containing key medicines and items for emergency treatment can really help in cases of sickness and accidents when traveling.
ReplyDeleteBringing medical records plus your medications in other countries when traveling is really a must because their medications are more expensive and you don't want to spend that much.
ReplyDeletethat's always one vital way to remember most especially when going somewhere.
ReplyDeletenice tips sis!! We always do this tips above. we have an insurance from my husbands company that we can use anytime and accesible all over the world. We always bring medical travel kit as well that more important for emergencies.
ReplyDeleteThese are very good tips which I'll keep in mind when I do get the chance to travel.
ReplyDeleteYes, health insurance is really a great help especially in times of unexpected circumstances. =)
ReplyDeleteI never really thought of that before! Maybe because I don't travel much. You're right, travelers should be prepared health-wise since we never know what might happen during the trip. :)
ReplyDeleteYour right maybe I should really start to study what's the coverage of my health insurance so that I can use wisely just case something happen
ReplyDeleteThis is a very helpful post. Although I don't usually travel myself. Who knows, I might have one soon!
ReplyDeleteAgree with this though I don't check the box for the insurance botton haha But it's a big help! :)
ReplyDeleteI got one out of three, I always see to it I have complete basic medical kit when I travel, but vaccine and health insurance? maybe next time I will put that too on my bucket list when travelling
ReplyDeleteGot an Idea :) Now I am planning to do that travel medical Kit - You have the good list of travel tips here Mai- keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Kim. Health insurance is a good thing and everyone should take one. http://www.drmuralikrishnaortho.com/
ReplyDeleteThe Travel Medical Kit seems neat. But also make yourself insured too. ^_^
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, kahit isa dyan sa tips mo, wala akong ginawa. LOL Thanks for sharing. Next time, I make it a point na i-follow ang useful travel tips mo anak.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most important thing that a traveler must know and almost all of us tends to forget. Maybe it's because of the excitement or the adrenaline. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI only have a travel medical kit. :)
ReplyDeleteGetting vaccinated is something I should consider on my next out of the country trip. The last thing I want to happen is to get sick while on the road far from our country.
ReplyDeletehealth insurance and medical kit...checked!... except vaccination, i'm not a fan of it. for me as long as one's body immune system is strong, no need for a vaccination.
ReplyDeleteI guess, not all tourists are conscious about this health matter whenever they travel but, this should be one of their major concerns especially for out-of-the country trips. Disease-causing organisms are mostly airborne. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteNoted, Ms BB. I have to make sure that our first travel abroad will include these significant details. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of this one whenever I travel elsewhere but I make sure that I stay healthy all the time.
ReplyDeleteit is really a good tip that travelers should bring a medical kit . I experience the difficulty of finding a pharmacy for my recurring back pain in an isolated place. So from then on , i have my personalized packed up kit ...
ReplyDeleteI didn't thought of the importance of being vaccinated before travelling until now. Wow! You're really good at this. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeletetravel medical kit is a must have when travelling. that's why every time my family went to travel i always see to it that med kit is included in pack.. ika nga, it's better to be prepared and always ready
ReplyDeletewhat we do is, each of us, even the kids has their own back/backpack. Inside are a pair of pants, clothes, under wear and what ever they may need during travel like kindle, a book. In case we are stranded or delayed flight, then we have something with us in case we need to spend the night/day in a hotel.
ReplyDeleteI think these things you mentioned are very basic for the travelers to stay healthy and free from any diseases or contamination. They're a must to know.
ReplyDeleteresearch first about the place (the environment) and don't forget to bring cellphone or any forms of communication in case of emergency :)
ReplyDeletewhenever we travel, I always make sure that our travel medical kit is complete with anti allergy, paracetamol, alcohol (and betadine as well as cotton balls) , band aide and petroleum jelly.
ReplyDeleteTrue! =) So last week I finally decided to apply for a health insurance =)
ReplyDeleteI think the most neglected thing is the insurance since most have that idea that nothing will happen wrong.. so I think insurance should definitely be a top priority.. :)
ReplyDeleteIts probably because I am young and at the peak of my health that I dont really check my medical info often.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with bringing a medical kit, espacially when I expect to travel on long hauls.
I get dizzy with bus rides sometimes, or I have to protect myself with the new environment I would be exploring. my example is Palawan, we all know how exotic the place is, but that well its near the equatorial line, cases of Malaria is rampant so visitors have to be careful with mosquitoes, Boracay in itself has many reports of Ecoli infection in its waters.
What I am saying is that these things are already present, but its better to go protected than be at risk of infection
I haven't really given much thought about "health" when I travel, except of course for bringing a travel medical kit. But thanks for sharing this sis Mai. This is especially helpful for those going to a certain country for the first time. Will not neglect medical insurance na ever again!
ReplyDeleteI think not everyone is aware of this. As for me, I always make sure I have a medical kit in my bag..it is becoming a must when traveling. I should consider getting vaccinated next time.
