My Starbucks Global Icon Series Mugs Part I.
I started my Starbucks Mug collection back in 2011 after seeing the same collection from a blogger that I used to follow. I was so amazed by her shot-glass-size souvenirs that I promised to get myself the same collectible after every visit to a new foreign country.
My first set was bought in Jeonju, Korea last year. I was also lucky since Jeonju only had one Starbucks shop, which was just a 10-minute walk from our hotel. Now, the shop wasn't selling an actual Jeonju-printed mug. They only had Korea and Seoul available. I guess I could consider Seoul since I had to pass through it on my way to Incheon. =D
Now, my second pair of Starbucks mini-mugs were purchased in Hong Kong. But the mugs that I have now are of Macau's and China's (been to Shenzhen so this counts). But I've been to both places too. I just need to get the ones that has Hong Kong printed on it. I actually had to ask my friend in Hong Kong to buy me the mugs since I kept forgetting during my two previous trips there.
I've also been to Singapore (twice now) and Thailand (Bangkok & Pattaya). But I didn't get the chance to visit any Starbucks stores then. Thus my still, incomplete collection. But my friend who is based in Bangkok recently updated me about a possible BKK mug sighting. So here's to hoping that I get my third set soon! =)
Ok, so I just read that there are also local icon mugs here in the Philippines (mugs from Baguio, Batangas, Boracay, CDO, Cebu, Manila, Tagaytay, and more!) I'm just not sure if these are still available. But if these babies are still out in the market, then I can't wait to get my hands on them too!
Anyway, what do you collect from your travels? Care to share your precious finds? =)

ReplyDeleteThank You!!! =)
ReplyDeleteKorea and China mugs (pink ones) are cute, I like the color, nice collections. I've only been to one country (Thailand) so haven't thought of collecting anything but I do have a collection of small bills/coins from different countries, I ask them as a gift from my friends. :)

I am not a traveler so I don't have any collection like yours.. But I hope someday I can visit the places you have mentioned and check out Starbucks store to get my first mug too :)
ReplyDeleteNice....Got mugs and other coffee stuffs which I use often with Starbucks because those are really durable even quite pricy...
ReplyDeleteI actually bought the tall coffee container.. when I accidentally bumped into it, it slammed on the floor and cracked. Di ko na nagamit after coz it was already leaking. =(
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea, Levy! Collect na tayo ng local mugs.. sana meron pa from Starbucks. =)
ReplyDeleteang cool! I also know a few fa's who collects bills from the places that they've been to. =) As for me, may fixation na talaga ako sa mugs na yan. =)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried collecting similar things from my travels yet, like mugs for instance. When I go abroad, I spend most of my money on foreign food instead of collectibles. =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming idea :)
ReplyDeletehello Nagashiko! I actually just love bringing in pieces of the world back to my homeland. It just simply reminds me of all the wonderful places that I've been to. =)

ReplyDeleteMy hubby is also collecting mugs of Starbucks such as those though he's not the addicted coffee drinker, I am. He's been traveling for his work and got mugs from various cities. 2 from france, 2 from malaysia and 3 from China. I would have bought one when i was in Amsterdam but it wasn't available and in Hongkong but I've got no more dollars! O well, maybe next time.

ReplyDeleteHI There!
ReplyDeleteI am collecting the mugs, too. I forgot to buy one in Chiang mai during my stay there. Does anyone of you know if I can buy the City mugs of Bangkok and Chiang mai at Bangkok Airport? Would be great if anyone knows that!
Thank you and greetings
AnnKristin
Hey Ann! :) I'll ask my friends.. one is actually in Chiang Mai now. I didn't buy my BKK mugs kasi when I went there (didn't notice na sa airport), so my friend just got a set for me the last time she visited.
ReplyDeleteHi again! I asked my friend who just got back from Chiang Mai. She didn't notice if there was a Starbucks store at the BKK airport. But she did however, find one from 1 of 3 stores in BKK. :)
ReplyDeleteBilang sapat na sapat lang lagi yung budget ko para sa mga activities sa gala, narealize kong wala pala akong specific na kino-collect from travels.:D
ReplyDeleteSmells like a giveaway! Kidding. :)
ReplyDeleteSa November meron for sure! :)
