Day 3 in Cebu: Riding uncertainty... all in the name of adventure!

{Post from July 2010} Our third day in Cebu was more relaxed yet we still had our nerve-racking moments. Before leaving Alba Uno in the morning, I made a phone call to SuperCat's Cebu office to check if we could still avail of their Island Skip Trips Bohol Day Trip package. And much to our luck, we were still accommodated. So after that phone call, we headed off to the Kartzone.

THE KARTZONE EXPERIENCE

My boyfriend was able to persuade me into trying kart racing. I was firm about not riding the race kart at first, and leaving him to race on his own. But something in me just wanted to try it out. It was in fact, a different kind of driving compared to typical cars. So I did it anyway.

So I tried it.. and loved it! The thrill of driving was scary but it gave me a different high!

THE TAOIST TEMPLE

After 8 laps at the Kartzone, we decided to visit the Taoist Temple. Now much to our surprise, it was a holy place that was kept inside this very posh village. Public transportation is prohibited from entering this area (like jeeps, tricycles, motorcycles), so it would be unfortunate for anyone to visit the temple without their own vehicle. And we were actually one of those unlucky people!

So we got in the village by cab, and we got out of the village by foot (my boyfriend was already sweating like heck!). Not a single taxi came even after leaving the temple. And despite reaching the village gate, cabs were still scarce. But there was this one ride that we could take that would transport us back into the city --- but then we'd have to risk our lives for it! This was Cebu's famous motorcycle ride called the Habal-Habal!

Ok, so I thanked God that we got out safe. When we got off the scary habal-habal ride, we rode the 17D jeep back to Lahug Apas. We got in at Alba Uno, took a bath, and caught in some snooze time before leaving again that night.

DINNER AT ASIATOWN I.T. PARK

It was already dark outside when we woke up (plus it was raining a little), and was already time for dinner. Since we wanted to check-out the whole Asiatown I.T. Park, we roamed around before deciding on a place to eat in. Da Vinci's Pizza was the final verdict. The place was small but cozy, and had a really unique touch to it. Their pasta wasn't all that great but the 12" pizza that we ordered was sumptuous.

All in all, our 3rd day in Cebu still blessed us a wonderful time. And coming home to a lovely place such as Alba Uno, was always the cherry on top.

Our Bohol Day Trip is coming up next! =)

  1. Cebu is really one of the best places to go and visit in our country, wow! 8 laps at the kartzone, that was surely full of fun!

  2. Been to Taoist Temple too on my first visit and the place was nice though we didn't have the usual worry on the transport as we were with a group.  I hope to try using the supercat from Cebu to Bohol also as I've never merged travels to Bohol and Cebu in one vacation.

  4. Really one of a kind adventure. For sure the most memorable one for you is the Habal Habal rider (and the driver of course!).

  6. You should try the Supercat if you plan on visiting Bohol. It'll only take you an hour to get there. :) And buti ka pa.. you had transportation going to Taoist Temple! When we went there, umulan pa during our pagiikot. :/ Good thing it stopped raining right when we were about to leave. :)

  9. I haven't been to Cebu but seeing the photo of the Taoist Temple made me feel as if I've been there! Lol. Probably because I've seen so much of temples from everywhere thanks to my Buddhist grandpa. :)

  11. Riding Go Karts is fun and good that you were also able to squeeze in Taoist Temple though its always a challenge getting out there. Lucky for us before it was part of the tour.

  14. Cebu is one of the cities in the country that I'd love to visit. Yes, habal-habal is very famous in Cebu but I don't think I can try that. I am afraid of riding motorcycles.

  15. Like the others, I haven't been to Cebu myself. And it sure looks like a fun place to visit. If I so happen to find myself in Cebu one of these days, I'm going to go to Kartzone, too.

  17. You will try everything in the name of adventure... why not? It's more fun and thrill doing something beyond ordinary, like riding a kart and racing. This isn't a simple as it may seem, I assume.

  20. Cebu Taoist temple reminds me of my good ole days in Cebu while stayed with my better-half relative there. I was attending a 3-day seminar/workshop in Innotech hotel. Good, calm, serene place to spend for awhile, that's, Taoist Temple.

  25. I'm actually afraid of riding motorcycles.. but since we didn't have any other choice then (unless we walked a long distance), we just went with it -- and prayed along the way. :)

  26. Oh, you should! Hopefully when you visit, you get the track all to yourself -- or at least with 2-3 people. :)

  27. Hahaha.. if it were a honeymoon trip, ayoko po sana ng masyadong adventure packed.. pwedeng chill mode lang Ms. Gemma! Hehe! And yes, naawa ako sa sarili ko while riding the Habal-Habal.. pero I charged it to experience na lang po. :)

  28. Oh, it wasn't easy for me the first time as I've never really rode a vehicle such as that or a car.. then again, it was fun to do it. :)

  29. Oh, that's a nice recollection!

  30. Hahaha.. if I only had another option, I would choose something else.. :/

  31. Oh, really? Didn't know it closes at 5pm.. buti nakaabot pala kami coz we came in ng afternoon na. :)

  32. Very unlikely combo, but I guess they complemented - an adrenaline rush and a meditative promenade (I don't mean the walk going out of the posh village though, hehe). I've also visited the temple and the bright colors were arresting. It looked like a theme park. :))

Anyway, I've already left FBW (no need to elaborate here) but I'm reciprocating cuz your comments always deserve reciprocation. I'll still be checking out your blog from time to time. One of my faves. :)

  33. Oh, I didn't see it that way -- unlikely combo but it did complement in some way. :)

And I am saddened by this news. :( I hope to bump into you, and maybe get the chance to travel with you someday. I really love your blog as well.. I can relate so much to your life stories too, especially when it came to your dad..

Anyway, keep traveling! I hope to see you and your mom to several new destinations. :)
